“When preparing to travel, lay out all your clothes and all your money. Then take half the clothes and twice the money.” – Susan Heller
Last week, I finished up a blog post series on our trip last year to Utah. What fun it was to relive the beauty of that vacation. I hope you enjoyed it.
Now we’re getting ready for a couple of upcoming trips this fall. So, since my mind is on travel, I’m thinking through what to pack and what to leave at home.
Whether you’re planning for a trip this fall, too, or you just got back from one, you may be thinking about what you need to make travel easier and more enjoyable. I’ve found the things on this list to be personally helpful. I hope you will too.
(Please note: If you buy any of these items from my links below, I will earn a small commission at no cost to you. I only recommend products that I have personally used and enjoyed or have been recommended to me by someone whose opinion I respect. This is a small way for you to support Glimsen. Thank you.)
A few notes about this list:
We bought a similar set of soft-side Samsonite in 2015 and they are still going strong and looking good. I know a lot of people are using hard-side luggage now but it seems to me that those would be heavier. If you do, let me know what you think of it.
The Paperage notebook is reasonably prized, comes in lots of colors, and includes both a compact accordion file in the back for receipts as well as stickers to label the inside of the notebook and pages. It also has a ribbon bookmark and an elastic band to keep it closed. Perfect for a travel journal, and I’m very pleased with mine.
And of course, you need a great novel to take on the road with you, and you couldn’t choose a better one than Theo of Golden. It’s a beautifully written and filled with beauty of all kinds: in nature, art, faces, and people. It was recommended to me personally by three friends, and now I’m recommending it to you.
As you plan your future trips, here’s a favorite travel quote for you:
“Oh the places you’ll go.” – Dr. Seuss
And may those places be filled with beauty. Bon voyage!
