This week’s post is a little different. It’s a gathering, of sorts, of the old and a request for the new.
One of the topics I write about on Glimsen is what I call unexpected beauty—those moments when you’re surprised by what you see or experience, when beauty pops up in places or at times when you wouldn’t have guessed you’d come across it.
Like what? you may ask. Give me an example.
Why, I’m glad you asked. Here are some of experiences of unexpected beauty that I’ve shared through the years:
· Tiny, tenacious plants on the tundra in the Rocky Mountains;
· A violinist playing Celtic music next to security in a busy airport;
· A car covered in flower petals floating down as it drove away;
· A nandina bush with red berries next to a red stripe in the drive-thru lane (a sight which also sparked this blog);
· An overgrown pale pink bougainvillea taking over a shed in a neglected garden in Spain;
· A herd of deer in early morning mist on a golf course;
· The brilliant burst of a red cardinal against a drab winter landscape; and much more.

Through the years, Glimsen readers have told me that they’d like to read more such posts.
I know I’m not the only one who has experienced unexpected beauty. What about you?
If you have an example from your own life, would you please email me or leave me a comment describing it? I’d love to know so I can gather them all up and share them on Glimsen.
Thank you, friends. And may this be a week of unexpected beauty for you.
